The US Navy expects to save US$1.4 billion from data centre consolidation by 2017. That's the goal of Navy Chief Information Officer Terry Halvorsen who has said the Navy and Marine Corps need to cut back on the number of data centres they operate in order to cut their overall information technology budgets by 25%.

F5 Networks reported profit and revenue ahead of expectations in its December quarter and raised guidance for its current March quarter. Potawatomi Business Development Corp. plans to open a US$36 million data centre in Milwaukee in 2013 after finding a void in the region for companies looking to lease space for information storage.
