The European Commission Institute for Energy has recognized Upsite Technologies’ contributions to increasing the energy efficiency of data centres and awarded Upsite with the title of Endorser of their Code of Conduct.

Upsite is the first data centre sealing company to receive this designation, bringing recognition to it’s suite of Lok sealing products and services for their significant impact on the energy efficiency of data centres worldwide.

BICSI, the international association providing education and industry intelligence to network and data centre designers, installers, security professionals and end-users, will be launching its new ‘Data Centre Design and Implementation Best Practices Standard’ at the 2010 BICSI European Conference & Exhibition in Dublin on 22-24 June.

The agreement on a pan-European ‘green’ Code of Conduct for Data Centres now paves the way for a new generation of facilities which will raise the bar on power efficiency and use of renewable energy sources.

A UK-based body has produced a new scheme which should help businesses build green data centres. The BREEAM rating scheme for buildings, from the Building Research Establishment (BRE Global) has been extended to cover data centres. The new BREEAM data centre scheme is intended to help organisations assess the environmental impact of their data centre, and should be a help as pressure increases for zero-carbon buildings.

The 6th Data Centres Europe Awards took place in Sophia Antipolis on Thursday 24th June at a Gala Dinner attended by executives from more than thirty countries. The ceremony was presided over by the chair of the Awards Judges panel, Ashley Davis, managing director at JPMorgan. The following awards were announced:
