  • Telehouse launches metro service

    A new tailored service for London-based SMEs, providing a secure off-site location for housing IT systems at its city-based Metro site has been launched by Telehouse. The solution to alleviate an increasing lack of space available to businesses in the city and may be a solution to property price rises. A new fibre link between Telehouse's two sites Metro and Docklands - allows city businesses to take advantage of the wide-range of carriers available at Telehouse's premium Docklands site.

  • Data Fortress Canada

    Data Fortress System Group has announced the launch of a Carrier Neutral Colocation service. This new service will provide companies with access to other Tier-1 bandwidth providers. The company offers transport from Vancouver via fibre to multiple transit providers in the US. Data Fortress is a Network Application Provider (NAP). The Data Fortress NAP model entails the company building and deploying high-end network connectivity to medium and large enterprises, combined with selling services and applications across this network.

  • eCompany Dubai launches major revision of its eHosting and Colocation packages

    eCompany, Etisalat's eBusiness Unit that provides Internet services and ICT solutions has launched a major revision of its eHosting and Colocation packages targeted at multi-nationals as well as small and medium enterprises. eHosting packages have now been increased to 5 with the addition of two new packages. A Premium package has been introduced to cater for customers that need daily backup with VPN secure connectivity. A BackOffice package has also been introduced for those organisations that need to host their back-end database servers behind their front-end applications.

  • Dell to outsource in Philippines

    Dell will outsource part of its customer service to the Philippines from next year. The call centre, which will be located in the Manila area and open in February, 2006, will initially employ more than 700. To serve Asia, Dell already has one call centre in Malaysia and two in China.

  • India sees shift to outsourcing data centres

    According to a recent report by NASSCOM the Indian software association, outsourcing contracts will shift to desktop management, data centre operations and network monitoring to tap the US$5.5-billion market of infrastructure management services (IMS). IMS relates to monitoring, managing and enhancing performance of a client's IT infrastructure backbone. These include managing servers, data centres, networks and assets and providing desk-side support, IT security and maintenance services.

  • Ericsson increases managed services contracts

    Ericsson has signed a contract with Belgian mobile operator BASE to provide managed services. Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the BASE core network for a period of 7 years. This will allow BASE to reduce operating expenditure, increase its focus on customers and strengthen its position in the Belgian market. This follows the signing of two contracts to handle managed services for telecom operators - one with Bharti Tele-Ventures in India and another with Warid Telecommunications Pvt.

  • Bell Canada and Fusepoint extend managed it services to top brands

    Bell Security Solutions Inc. and Fusepoint Managed Services Inc. announced the implementation by Maple Leaf Foods of a co-sourced data centre ensuring business continuity under virtually any circumstance. Other recent contract wins for managed IT security include leading companies such as Colliers, Cossette Communications, Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan, Just For Laughs, Oberthur Gaming Technologies and Tim Hortons.

  • BearingPoint wins managed services contract

    The company has won a managed services contract from Hawaiian Telcom Communications, Inc. running until April 2010 to build and operate new operations and business support systems. Under the terms of the contract, BearingPoint will undertake enterprise system implementation, installing and configuring a complete set of front office, network and back office systems and implementing more than 40 new systems/modules, including finance, human resources, customer billing and relationship management.
