  • Ericsson Delivers Hosted Managed Services in Jordan

    Ericsson's push e-mail solution, Ericsson Mobile Organiser (EMO), has been chosen by MobileCom, a leading cellular operator in Jordan. EMO offers "push" access to Personal Information Management (PIM) applications. Under the 3-year contract, the service delivery of push e-mail and PIM will be secured through an Ericsson hosted service. Hosting is a part of Ericsson's managed services offering. The global trend towards managed services is accelerating as operators and vendors work in partnership to reduce costs and bring new services to market as quickly as possible.

  • Lucent Provides Managed Services Solution for Fastfiber

    Lucent Technologies has been selected by Fastfiber Netwerk B.V (Netherlands) to provide a managed services solution, which includes network integration and integrated fibre networking equipment for Fastfiber's broadband optical fibre network. Under the 3-year contract Lucent will provide its entire services portfolio in support of Fastfiber's nationwide fibre-to-the-business network, including design, installation, integration, and network maintenance.

  • AT&T Wins Gaming Hosting Contract

    AT&T has won a US$9.5 million, three-year managed hosting contract from Microsoft Game Studios (MGS) to support various online experiences and the infrastructure for massively multiplayer online role-playing games. The online games include the latest for both Windows and the Xbox 360(TM) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Multiplayer online games, where tens of thousands of users play simultaneously from points around the globe, have emerged as one of the most sophisticated, bandwidth-intensive applications on the Internet.

  • Redbus Wins in Germany, Italy

    Redbus Interhouse GmbH, the German division of the colocation and managed services provider, has been appointed by eurodata GmbH and Co. KG of Saarbrucken to provide colocation and associated services for eurodata and infoServe, its wholly owned subsidiary. Eurodata will use the Redbus Interhouse Frankfurt data centre as part of its expansion strategy to provide web applications and connectivity services. Eurodata has been a successful solution provider of business management applications for over 40 years, employing approximately 500 employees in 11 offices across 9 countries.

  • Globix Wins Insurance Contract

    Globix Ltd. has been awarded a 3-year contract to provide managed web infrastructure and security services for the online services provided by Beazley Group plc. The agreement includes the company's corporate website, beazley.com, and beazleytrade.com, an innovative online e-trading platform for specialist insurance products. Beazley is a specialist underwriting business, which has been operating in the Lloyds market since 1986. The company focuses on writing specialty-risk insurance and reinsurance business in selected markets.

    Equinix, Inc the provider of network-neutral data centres and Internet exchange services, and NeuStar a provider of clearinghouse services to the global communications industry have entered an agreement to jointly develop the first in a new generation of services to enhance the interconnection of networks providing advanced services under Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Trials for the new service are currently underway, and are open to interested participants, with a planned product introduction in the first half of 2006.

  • Canon Singapore To Offer Managed Services

    Canon Corp is now offering managed services solutions to customers in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and India in a bid to take advantage of the rising demand for consulting and other professional software services. The Japanese IT giant has set up a 12-member solutions team in Singapore and has tied up with other business partners, including Microsoft Corp and Adobe Systems Inc. The company intends to target SMEs across the region.

  • IBM Extends Lead in Worldwide Outsourcing Marketplace, Analyst Says

    IBM has extended its leadership in outsourcing, according to just-released statistics from IDC's analysis of the top 100 outsourcing deals of 2004. According to IDC, IBM captured 21 of the biggest 100 contracts worldwide, 13 more than the nearest competitor, CSC. IBM led in the number of IT outsourcing contracts with 17 deals and co-led in Business Process Outsourcing contracts, with four deals, IDC said. The IDC report indicates that Business Process Outsourcing contracts represented 25 percent of the Top 100 deals in 2004, up from 15.2 percent in 2003.
