Mike Manos, Vice President, Service Operations, Nokia
Mike has a background of running large scale Operations and Technology organizations with a special focus on those going through incredible periods of growth. Prior to joining Nokia he was most recently Senior Vice President of Digital Realty Trust which runs and operates over 150 data centers world-wide for many companies including Savvis, Equinix and IBM. His responsibilities there included world-wide Operations, Research and Engineering, and Data Center Construction. It was an exciting role, but when the opportunity to come to Nokia presented itself, he could not pass it up.

Mike has also been responsible for the strategy and execution of building out Microsoft’s world-wide cloud infrastructure and operations platforms, eventually scaling Microsoft operations to handle tens of data centers, hundreds of megawatts of power, and hundreds of thousands of servers worldwide. Prior to Microsoft, Mike ran Online Operations for Walt Disney including companies like Walt Disney Parks and resorts, ESPN, ABC, all of the movie studios and more. The challenges across all three of these companies (Digital, Microsoft, Disney) were remarkably similar in the sense that they evolved and matured in many of the same ways as their infrastructure and operational responsibilities grew and scaled out over time.

Mike is an active industry blogger around ‘cloud computing’, operations, data centers, and scale infrastructure approaches. His personal technology blog (Loosebolts) is an area where he talks about our industry in general. Additionally you could probably classify Mike as a typical geek with a data center in his home where he plays with different technologies and platforms from Linux to Windows and storage arrays to Network attached Storage.
