  • Energy Efficiency in Buildings

    The buildings sector accounts for 40% of the EU's energy requirements. It offers the largest single potential for energy efficiency. Research shows that more than one-fifth of the present energy consumption and up to 30-45 MT of CO2/Y could be saved by 2010 by applying more ambitious standards to new and when refurbishing buildings which represents a considerable contribution to meeting the Kyoto targets. The aim of improved energy efficiency has been set out in earlier existing legal instruments.

  • HeiTech Builds New Outsourcing DC In Malaysia

    HeiTech Padu Bhd is constructing a RM30mil data centre to expand the company's outsourcing business, outsourcing capabilities and disaster recovery services. Located in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, the new DC will be completed by October 2007. Built to tier IV specifications, the move would position the company to undertake the next phase of Internet protocol-based information technology (IT) projects. HeiTech is now active in recovery, network, application, maintenance and desktop outsourcing activities.

  • MCI Canada Expands Data Centre Services

    MCI Canada is extending its data centre for new customers of its hosting, colocation and session initiation protocol trunking services. Expansion is still underway, at its data centre located in Toronto. The company also launched VoIP trunking service, which uses the session initiation protocol for call control and routing, allowing enterprises to create a single, pure IP connection to carrier services.

  • CollabNet Opens New Data Centre In Chennai

    CollabNet, a US based provider of collaborative software solutions, has announced setting up of its data centre in Chennai. The company has set up the centre in partnership with Sify. The CollabNet team in Chennai will maintain and support the data centre and handle all the client requirements, training and support for its Collabnet Enterprise Edition, in the Indian market. The product enables companies to deploy globally distributed development practices as an on-demand service.

  • Internap Extends Performance IP Service Footprint

    AInternap Network Services Corporation (AMEX:IIP), a leading provider of performance-based routing solutions over the Internet, has announced that it has extended its IP footprint via a new data center in the greater Los Angeles area operated by 365 Main, Inc. The additional 7,500 square feet of colocation helps Internap meet the needs of an increasing number of large bandwidth customers within the market. The move also allows the Atlanta-based company to offer more customers its bundled colocation and Performance IPTM services.

  • Mt Knox Opens Its First Small Scale Datacentre

    Mt Knox has announced the opening of it's first small scale datacenter designed to provide small businesses with the ability to outsource their datacenter floor space, implement disaster recovery solutions, high availability, and server co-location projects. This datacenter is located in the metropolitan Nashville area and is intended to service small and medium size businesses in the Nashville and central Tennessee area.

  • Digital Realty Expands Los Angeles Facility

    Digital Realty has signed a lease agreement that significantly expands its presence in 600 West 7th Street, Digital Realty Trust's downtown Los Angeles Internet Gateway and Turn-Key Data Centre Facility. Cyberverse is increasing its presence in the building by adding 3,500 square feet of fully redundant data centre space from existing stock of turn-key space on the fourth floor of the building.

  • Internap Expands In Boston And New York

    Internap is to expand its Boston and New York data centres. Market trends, such as the migration to blade servers, which increases computing power density, are also drivers for Internap's need to expand in key markets. The company currently operates and manages 7 data centres with additional locations in Atlanta, Houston, and Seattle.

  • UBS Opens Service Centre In India

    UBS AG opened its India Service Centre (ISC) Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh state in the Financial District at Nanakramguda on the city outskirts. The unit will form a global hub to provide UBS with knowledge services including research and analytics, business process offshoring transaction and data processing, and IT infrastructure support. UBS plans to take headcount to 500 by the year-end and invest Swiss Franc 50 million over the next year on its development. It plans to raise its BPO seats from 450 to 1500 by the first half of 2007. UBS has more than US$2 trillion in client assets.

  • Reuters Build DC In Poland

    Reuters, the global information company, is to establish a permanent data management centre in the Gdansk area of Poland. The city in northern Poland has been chosen because of the broad range of language skills available locally, and good infrastructure and access. The Gdansk centre represents a significant investment to expand Reuters data collection and improve the company's business continuity planning. The new centre will run in tandem with the current UK site in Tiverton, Devon.

  • IXEurope Acquires Second Datacentre In Paris

    IX Europe Plc (IXEurope AIM: IXE) has acquired a second datacentre in Paris (Paris2 IXDatacentre) to accommodate strong growth from enterprise, internet and telecoms customers. This expansion is in addition to IXEurope building out a further 1,500m2 at its existing site in Roissy (near Charles de Gaulle airport). Acquisition and capital expenditure costs for Paris2 will total £2.7m: estimated at £2.0m in 2006 and £0.7m in 2007.   • Peak 10 Opens Second Charlotte Data Center

    Peak 10 has announced the opening of its second data center at its headquarter location in Charlotte, N.C. The phase one build-out was showcased at the company's annual BBQ and Bandwidth customer appreciation event held Thursday, July 27, 2006. Peak 10's Charlotte location now becomes the largest privately-held data center and managed services operation in North Carolina. The building of Peak 10's second Charlotte data center follows successful expansions in its Raleigh, N.C. and Louisville, Ky. markets in 2005.
