Key Infinity milestone as iCITY secures Agreement for Lease on Olympic Park

Infinity has reached a major milestone in the establishment of Infinity Stratford, a data centre to be created in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. iCITY, a joint venture between Infinity and Delancey, has finalised its deal with the London Legacy Development Corporation to deliver a world-leading digital and creative hub.

Data centre and wireless sales led growth at Cisco Systems in its fiscal third quarter, as it saw customers spending more in the U.S. and developing countries but reported continuing weakness in Southern Europe. 

Mimecast blames service outage on UK data centre glitch

Email archiving vendor Mimecast has blamed a service outage that left many of its UK customers unable to send or receive emails on a data centre glitch. The vendor specialises in cloud-based email archiving as well as continuity and security tools that are designed for use with Microsoft Exchange and Office 365.

Amsterdam stakes its claim as European data centre hub

Amsterdam continues to stake a claim as a leading European data centre hub, with companies attracted there by good connectivity to the rest of the world and relatively cheap power. Data centre provider Securus Fund has just bought its first facility there, the Almere Data Centre, is now Securus Fund's sixth data centre which it purchased last month. The Tier 3 facility will be used to provide colocation and business contingency services to its clients.

Phibee taps Interoute to increase data centre presence

French wholesale operator Phibee Telecom has signed a contract to lease fibre optic capacity from Interoute to increase its presence at data centres in Paris and in Europe. 

Active Power supports Datum in delivering resilient data centre

With the goal of putting in place resilient electrical infrastructure and achieving low power usage effectiveness, Datum, a business class data centre provider, has deployed Active Power’s CleanSource 1000 kVA uninterruptible power supply system at its new colocation facility in QinetiQ Cody Technology Park in Farnborough, United Kingdom, according to a press release.

Equinix expands relationship with DE-CIX in Frankfurt

Equinix, the global interconnection and data centre company, has announced it has expanded its relationship with DE-CIX, one of the world's largest Internet Exchanges, with the installation of new Points of Presence in three Equinix data centres in Frankfurt – Equinix FR4 and FR5 (now called Campus Kleyer) and FR2, according to a press release.

NetSuite to follow Salesforce with UK data centre

NetSuite has become the latest firm to confirm its intention to open a data centre in the UK in order to expand its footprint for data storage, following on from similar announcements from Salesforce and Oracle. The firm's chief executive Zach Nelson said NetSuite intends to open the location within the next 12 months and the UK is the most likely location, although he admitted other areas such as Amsterdam were still in consideration. 

New data contract for San Francisco could improve information recovery post disaster

In the event of a disaster, the City of San Francisco could be without critical information for weeks, an analysis of a proposed data centre lease shows. The City’s recovery capability for essential information and technology systems after a disaster would “vastly” improve if a proposed two-year, US$270,834 agreement with the state’s California Technology Agency for a backup data centre in Rancho Cordova is approved, according to city officials. 

CyrusOne buys Lombard data centre

EnTrust Realty Advisors has completed the sale of 1800 Springer Drive, a 60,838-sq ft office/data centre building in Lombard, to CyrusOne, which  occupies 96% of the space.

The property is located in the Oak Creek Center business park, an 11-building, 70-acre office complex containing 427,000 sq ft of professional office space, originally developed by The Alter Group. It is located in Lombard near the four-way interchanges of I-355, I-88 and I-294.
