Layered Technologies, Inc., one of the world's largest providers of on demand IT infrastructure, has announced the acquisition of FastServers.net, a leading Chicago based managed hosting company. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. The acquisition will combine the expertise of FastServers.net in managed dedicated hosting with Layered Technologies' leading Grid and unmanaged offerings.

Nirvanix, a premier Cloud Storage platform provider, has announced that it has received funding from European Founders Fund, a top tier German venture capital firm with an enviable record of success in launching Internet ventures and a strong network of business relationships throughout the continent. Nirvanix plans to use the investment money to fund its European expansion, leveraging its innovative Storage Delivery Network (SDN) platform.

Savvis, a provider of global co location and IT infrastructure services, has reported that its revenue for the 4th quarter of 2007 totaled USD 197.8 million with a net loss of USD2.5 million. Revenue rose by 4 per cent compared with the previous quarter driven by hosting growth, but was slightly down compared with a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA rose by 11 per cent over the last quarter, and 9 per cent year on year with an improvement in EBITDA margin from 18 to 20 per cent year on year.

Pipex Business has announced that it will be changing its name to Vialtus Solutions. The company is a provider of IP, hosting and communications services to medium sized and large companies in the UK. The new name Vialtus combines the Latin words for way (via) and high (altus). Unofficial reports suggest that Vialtus is still seeking buyers for the former Pipex hosting and domain name registration businesses.

Indian Telephone Industries (ITI), the telecom manufacturing arm of the Government, is set to build the country's largest data centre through a public-private partnership model. The new facility will target companies requiring backup data recovery. Bids from private and public companies for a strategic partnership with ITI for this major project are being invited and several companies that have applied are currently under evaluation.

COLT has reported its fourth quarter results for the three months to the end of December 2007 together with its full year 2007 results. Overall revenue for the year has decreased by 6.7 per cent to 1,679.6 million. Data revenue for the year increased by 9.6 per cent to 842.6 million and accounted for 50.2 per cent of total revenue. EBITDA increased by 6.5 million year on year to 277.4 million (an increase of 2.4 per cent). It is the first full year of profitability for COLT, with a profit before tax and exceptional items of 37.3 million for 2007.

BIS Ltd., a provider of hosting and global connectivity solutions, has completed the acquisition of a new London data centre (Anchorage Point) located in South East London. The purchase price for the data centre facility was not disclosed. The new centre will complement its existing 4 on-net London facilities. The company will offer both colocation and fully managed services. Anchorage Point adds 25,000 feet to the BIS portfolio, with a total of 50,000 feet under management. The acquisition follows on from its purchase of AboveNet UK's Docklands data centre last year.
