Interconnection company Telx has acquired the Atlanta Internet Exchange (AIX). In addition, the company has launched an Internet Peering Exchange in Phoenix, AZ. This is significant for Telx as it marks the company's first foray managing an Internet Peering platform, while taking a lead position for these services in two markets. The AIX is an established open exchange platform already colocated with Telx at 56 Marietta Street in Atlanta, where Telx owns the building and operates interconnection facilities.
Web hosting and managed services specialist Alentus Corp of California, US, has acquired London, UK-based Areti Internet Ltd. While financial details of the cash and stock transaction were not disclosed, the acquisition will add some $1.5 million in annual revenue and position Alentus in the fast-growing European market. All Areti Internet employees have been retained.
