Google has invested US$38.8 million in two North Dakota wind farms, the Internet giant's first direct investment in utility-scale renewable energy generation. South Sioux City Council's Finance Committee voted 4-0 Wednesday to set an electrical rate of 4.7 cents per kilowatt to be paid by future occupants of the data park the city is developing. Equinix has announced the expansion of its NY4 International Business Exchange data centre. The US$80 million third phase provides approximately 1,250 cabinet equivalents, enabling Equinix to better service the largest metropolitan area in the United States--a region that includes leading financial firms and some of the largest media and enterprise companies in the world. The NY4 IBX data centre located 11 miles from downtown Manhattan and is one of Equinix's eight IBX data centres in the area.
Irish IT services company PFH has bought the Irish business of Siemens Enterprise Communications in what it called a 'multi-million euro deal'. PFH currently employs 150 people in Dublin, Cork and Galway, but this deal will bring the total to 200.

The Forestry Commission, Britain’s largest land manager, has signed a five-year, £1 million contract with Fujitsu to manage its IT estate. Fujitsu will be responsible for maintaining the Commission's ICT including storage, servers, and its data centre in Edinburgh. Datacom will spend A$2 million on a 70-rack expansion of the Metro iX data centre in Perth after acquiring the facility from Perth iX for an amount "in excess of A$10 million".

Digiweb, the independent Irish telecoms firm, is eyeing up acquisitions in Britain that could double the size of its business to €100 million. Colm Piercy, founder and chief executive of Digiweb, said that the firm would continue an acquisition spree that has already involved the buyouts of Smart Telecom, Internet Ireland and TalkTalk’s business in Ireland and Belgium. Digital Realty Trust, the world's largest wholesale data centre provider, has announced that it acquired two shell buildings totalling approximately 82,000 sq ft located at 3105 & 3115 Alfred Street in Santa Clara, California. Combined, the buildings can support the development of six 1125 kW Turn-Key Datacenter PODs totalling approximately 48,000 sq ft of raised floor data centre space.
Lightower Fiber Networks, a Boxborough fibre network and bandwidth service provider, said it is acquiring Veroxity Technology Partners, a Westford company that provides fibre based data and Internet connectivity solutions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the third quarter, Lightower said.
Net4 India, a Noida-based network and application provider, has said that it has raised Rs 8.04-crore through preferential allotment to a private equity firm, Granite Hill India Opportunities Fund. "Net4 India has diluted 4.7% promoter share to Granite Hill India Opportunities Fund to fund its expansion plan," Net4 India Ltd Chairman and Managing Director, Jasjit Sawhney, told reporters.
"This expansion will be in data centre services and data connectivity services. We will be setting up a 30,000 sq ft data centre in Chennai," Sawhney said.

INetU Managed Hosting has announced the purchase of facilities in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania to support increasing customer demand and new business growth.
INetU purchased a 46,000 sq ft facility which will be used to expand data centre capacity and, customer support operations.
