    Internap has been added to the IP infrastructure of Colo4Dallas to provide increased reliability, redundancy, and service. The Internap multi-carrier intelligent routing technology uses Private Network Access Points (P-NAPs) to speed Internet traffic from one location to another. Colo4Dallas owns and operates a 28,000 square foot, environmentally controlled and secure data centre.

  • Lundbeck selects MCI

    International pharmaceutical company H. Lundbeck A/S has selected MCI to link 58 of its site across Europe, Asia and North and South America using MCI Private IP, a network-based MPLS solution, and MCI IP Dedicated, as well as colocation services.

  • Equinix deploys Force 10 Terascale Switches

    Equinix has deployed Force 10's TeraScale E-Series switch/routers in a 10 Gigabit Ethernet upgrade to its Washington, D.C. area Internet Business Exchange (IBX) centre, with planned deployments to IBX centres in the New York, Silicon Valley and Chicago areas by the end of 2005. Equinix operates 15 IBX centres with a total footprint of more than one million square feet in the United States and Asia Pacific.

  • IBM cooling solution

    IBM has launched Cool Blue to reduce heat generated by equipment in the data centre. Branded Cool Blue, the solution works only with IBM's own racks, including those designed for the company's Cluster 1350 architecture. Prices start at US$4,299. Fitting onto the rear door of IBM server racks, the device taps into the chilled water supply circulating in companies' air conditioning systems. A rack with 80 servers can produce about 80,000 BTUs of heat per hour. The US market cost is around 7 cents per kW hour.

  • FiberNet selected by Equant

    FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc. a provider of complex metro data services has been selected by Equant to provide low-latency Metro Ethernet Transport services in the New York and New Jersey areas. FiberNet provides securely managed optical Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, switched and dedicated forms of Ethernet connections, and VLAN virtual circuits that can be configured to create point-to-point or multipoint-to-multipoint connections for hub, VLAN or VPN networks. Fibernet's revenues for the second quarter of 2005 were US$8.4 million.

  • Data Fortress (Canada) completes engineering work

    Data Fortress, a Service and Network Application Provider (SNAP) has completed the engineering of a section of its data centre to provide for the accommodation and control of new discountservers.ca line of dedicated servers. The Data Fortress SNAP model provides a suite of enterprise services such as; high-speed networking, data warehousing, data security, metropolitan area networks, Internet connectivity, remote data storage, streaming servers, colocation and managed services.

  • Sun unveils Galaxy Opteron servers

    Sun Microsystems is launching its "Galaxy" family of Opteron servers. The systems use AMD's Opteron processors, a selling point that the company will emphasise to differentiate its offerings from competing Opteron servers from IBM and Hewlett-Packard. The Galaxy line is expected to stretch from one-way to eight-way servers, some of which will incorporate the new multiprocessing-capable versions of the dual-core Opteron currently being developed at AMD.

    COLT Telecommunications France has installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux on 400 of its servers in response to demand from customers for increased reliability and security across different services. COLT offers an IT platform care package where customers can take advantage of the company's own private infrastructure should they need to outsource any aspect of their IT systems.

This new appliance is a 10 port, all-gigabit UTM firewall that delivers high-speed internal and external network protection, promising reduced deployment time, automated ongoing operations and enhanced network reliability.

  • Lantronix launches new data centre grade information exchange capabilities to embedded devices

    The device networking and data centre management solutions provider has launched new data-centre grade information exchange capabilities to embedded devices arrayed throughout private networks and the Internet. The XPort AR module includes a complete embedded computer, an Ethernet 10/100 interface along with an on-board network operating system and web server in a miniaturised RJ45 package, about the size of two sugar cubes. The fully integrated XPort AR can be used as a device's central processing unit (CPU).
