HP has announced that its Consolidation Client Infrastructure (CCI) application service is to be rolled out on a global basis up to now the CCI has been available only in the US. CCI centralizes desktops into a server room using blade PC's in a rack-mounted enclosure. Access is made via a thin client on the users' desk. HP claim a reduction in management costs over a four year period of up to 50% over the use of a VPS (Virtual Private Server) solution.

UK companies will turn to outsourcing their business processes this year as much as they use suppliers to run their IT infrastructure, according to predictions by the National Outsourcing Association (NOA). The industry group says that business process outsourcing (BPO) deals based on the use of recognised industry standards is driving the growth of the market. The move to service delivery based on ITIL (IT infrastructure library) and project management standardisation reduces risk for users.
