AboveNet Communications UK Ltd., a provider of fibre optic connectivity solutions for business and carriers and a subsidiary of AboveNet Inc., will be provisioning fibre connectivity to TelecityGroup's data centre facility, Powergate, located at Park Royal, London. Services include fibre optic infrastructure, Tier-1 IP Transit as well as a range of managed wavelength services.

An AT&T subsidiary, in association with Qtel and Navlink, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Energy City Qatar (ECQ) to deliver advanced data communications including an Internet Data Centre (IDC) and Network Operations Centre (NOC) in the Energy City Qatar.

Continuous availability solutions provider Stratus Technologies (ST) has announced the opening of its first Managed Services Centre outside the US and Europe. Based in Singapore, the centre sees growth driven by major financial, telecommunications and manufacturing organisations.

IT services company Logica has reported that it has signed a new Indian site in Chennai. The new site is based at DLF IT Park, Manapakkam in Chennai will cover over 120,000 square feet with space for an additional 1,500 staff. It is due to open in July 2008. Additionally Abhay Gupte has joined the company as CEO of Logica's Indian operations from EDS, where he was Managing Director for their Indian business.

MirriAd, an embedded advertising company, has outsourced the hosting and management of its servers, IP connectivity and firewalls to TelecityGroup. MirriAd's infrastructure will be hosted at one of the TelecityGroup's data centres in London. The data centres are network independent and offer direct access to the London Internet Exchange (LINX). MirriAd's technology and integrated service digitally embeds advertising into video content.

The Ministry of Health in New Zealand has issued a request for tender for a "Tele-Housing Solution" to consolidate their servers into a smaller number of larger data centres. The Ministry is looking to use blade servicer to reduce the space needed. The tele-housing project is being undertaken by the Access and Integration programme team, which is part of NSDP. The Ministry currently operates three data centres (Molesworth Street and Taranaki Street in Wellington and Penrose in Auckland) which house IT platforms for national payment systems, patient information management and other systems.

IBM and the Industrial Development Agency of Ireland (IDA of Ireland) have announced the launch of Europe's first Cloud Computing Centre based in Dublin. The Centre is to act as a hub to deliver Cloud Computing research and services to a number of satellite centres that are to be built across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. One of the Dublin Centre's first offerings for clients will be called the IBM Factory for Cloud Computing.
