AIMES Grid Services secures data centre expansion finance

AIMES Grid Services, the Liverpool based technology company, has secured investment of £1.2 million with which it intends to build the first phase of a new a data centre.
The company – a renowned cloud computing specialist - is set to build a 1.5 megawatt data centre, totalling some 35,000 sq ft at its Liverpool Innovation Park. The facility is set to include an innovative cooling system that will save 3,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.
NatWest Bank has provided £200,000 of the funding, a further £150,000 has come form from venture capital provider Merseyside Special Investment Fund’s (MSIF) Merseyside Loan and Equity Fund, with the remainder being private investment.
AGS is the company leading the FibreNet initiative, which will link key sites across Liverpool with high-speed broadband connectivity and create a so-called "digital testbed" allowing enterprises to try out new applications and services.
