Alpha Technologies buying HP building

A company based in Hurricane is buying Building 6000 at the West Virginia Regional Technology Park in South Charleston with hopes of turning it into disaster recovery facility for technology companies from around the nation.

The West Virginia Economic Development Authority gave preliminary approval for a US$2.7 million loan to Alpha Technologies to buy the building from The Dow Chemical Co. HP Enterprise Services, a division of Hewlett Packard, currently occupies a portion of the 79,700-sq ft building. About 100 HP employees work there, hosting the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's data centre.
