Australia: Heat on data centre operators over energy

A new energy rating system could increase pressure on Australian data centre operators to ensure their green credentials are up to scratch. Accordingly, the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, which administers and funds the scheme nationally, has begun developing an energy performance rating tool designed specifically for data centres. A spokeswoman for Climate Change Minister Greg Combet said the tool was expected to be available by the end of the year.
