Cloud becoming a major disaster recovery strategy

Amazon Web Services is not making any special offers of assistance. But by coincidence, it announced that it had opened data centres in the Tokyo area in early March and spokesmen confirmed that they remain in operation.

Under some circumstances, virtual appliances or virtual machine images of existing workloads can be created in the enterprise data centre and stored in a cloud data centre. In the event of a failure of the former, the virtual machines serve as recovery mechanisms that can be reactivated in the cloud.
