Cloud computing more secure than traditional model

Security may be a major concern for businesses as they look to the cloud but one vendor has claimed it could be an even more secure solution. During a speech at SNW Europe 2010, Ismail Azeri, vice president of business and corporate development at Acronis, acknowledged the security issues but said virtualisation was the key to an even safer environment.

“Security is a big concern for customers as they move into the cloud [but] you can be more secure by moving into it,” he said. “There are opportunities in virtualisation technologies as hypervisor [manufacturers] have built in a lot of security.” He said if backup vendors, like Acronis, leverage these technologies correctly, there would be even more security protecting your data than any one physical product could offer.
