Equinix, a provider of global data centre services, has announced the opening of the first phase of its third International Business Exchange data centre in Atlanta.

The new US$61 million Atlanta IBX data centre, which is located in the Atlanta city centre, will provide a total of 1,450 cabinet equivalents upon the completion of a second phase, already under construction, which is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2010. The new IBX data centre is connected to Equinix’s two existing IBX data centres in Atlanta, providing immediate access to almost 50 network providers.
