First Tennessee relocates staff to Maryville data centre

First Tennessee is bringing 110 jobs to Blount County - 65 new employees and 45 who are being relocated from Knoxville to a Maryville data centre. The bank has announced plans to begin in-house management of its computer technology infrastructure, including all servers and mainframe, bringing the 65 information technology jobs to the bank-staffed data centre over the next three to 18 months.

The building that housed First Tennessee’s Blount Operations Center in Blount County Industrial Park before the centre was closed 2008 is being refurbished to accommodate the new workers and equipment. The data centre function is presently contracted to an independent IT service provider.
