Global IT spending returns to growth but recovery not here yet

Global IT spending will rise in 2010 but the majority of IT budgets will remain flat, according to Ovum. The analysts said that some chief information officers will see increases in budgets of between one and five per cent, but these figures did not represent a recovery, just an improvement on the bare minimum.

"Realistically, the numbers are more likely to reflect the effect of previously deep budget cuts during 2008 and the first half of 2009, which left many IT departments operating at 'bare-bones' capacity," said Ovum's Rhonda Ascierto.
