Gyron announces new 8MW Ajax data centre in Slough
Gyron has announced that it would be opening an additional data centre in Slough, in the South East of England. When open for customer occupation in Q1 2013, the new Ajax facility will complement the existing Gyron owned and operated Maylands (pictured) and Centro facilities located in Hemel Hempstead, and bring Gyron's total announced power capacity to 19MW.
Conveniently located close to the M4 and the M40, and the M25 motorway encircling London, the new facility will offer up to 56,700 sq ft of datacentre space and 6,900 sq ft of associated offices and disaster recovery areas. The site will feature dual redundant 8MW power supplies from two dedicated on-site HV substations, as well as diverse connections to multiple fibre optic connectivity providers. Gyron plan to link the new Ajax facility to the company’s existing datacentres in Hemel Hempstead via a new dedicated high-speed fibre optic network ring.
Gyron's Managing Director, Robin Balen said "The Ajax facility is a fantastic opportunity to offer new and existing customers access to our environmentally friendly Tier IV aligned facilities in geographically diverse locations for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions." He added: "We plan on providing our colocation services at a class-leading PUE of between 1.2 and 1.3, with all power supplied from 100% green renewable sources, and we will be extending our ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security) external certifications to cover this facility."
