Internap Names Seattle For Data Center Expansion

Internap Network Services Corporation (AMEX:IIP), a leading provider of performance-based routing solutions over the Internet, has announced that its Seattle data center would be the location of its newest expansion efforts. The announcement comes on the heels of additional build-outs in Boston and New York, which were initiated to meet the growing demands of clients in those metropolitan markets. Completion of the proposed Seattle expansion is expected in early 2007. Internap will support the Seattle colocation expansion with enhancements to its underlying data center infrastructure, as well as a dedicated network operations center and sales team. The new space will also give Internap the ability to provide more access to its proprietary Performance IP service, which provides optimized Internet connectivity. The company's strong service level agreements (SLAs) and carrier neutral approach will be marketed to help fill the additional space. In addition to colocation and Performance IP, Internap data center solutions include managed security and managed router services. According to Gartner, North American hosted and managed colocation services will experience 14.8 percent and 16.4 percent growth respectively, during the next 12 months. Market drivers include voice and data convergence, as well as the increase of virtualized operating systems that will require optimization through the network, among others.
