iWeb secures US$3 million for data centre build-out

Canadian web hosting provider iWeb has said that it had completed a financing agreement with Goldman Sachs worth US$3 Million.

The new funding will be used to complete the construction on the company’s new Montreal data centre. The project was first announced in January of this year, and will add 31,000 sq ft, and capacity for 20,000 dedicated servers to the company’s three existing facilities, bringing iWeb’s total capacity to more than 35,000 servers. Phase 1 of the new facility - built from a building not previously used as a data centre, in Montreal’s LaSalle area - will have capacity for 3,000 servers, and will open in April.
