KVH to build next generation optical backbone network

KVH has announced that it will build a new high-speed, high-capacity next generation optical fibre backbone network to meet increasing demand for multi-gigabit class Ethernet services.

The first phase of development, covering the network's main access points in the metropolitan area such as KVH Tokyo data centre, is scheduled for completion within this year. In subsequent phases, the network will expand to other neighbouring areas including Yokohama, Kanagawa and Inzai, Chiba where a new KVH Data Center will open in 2011.
