Level 3 Launches Advanced Reporting Service For CDN Customers

Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:LVLT) has announced the launch of the Level 3 Content Analytics service, a new reporting platform for Content Delivery Network (CDN) customers that provides rich insight into traffic delivery patterns and Web site audiences. Content Analytics, a component of the Level 3 Media Portal, reports on the assets a Web site's audience is using, how they found the site, their geographic location and more (while protecting the privacy of the online audience; no personally identifiable information is reported).

Level 3's Content Analytics service - an interactive, rich Internet application - tracks up to 100,000 URLs per CDN caching property, a level of reporting that far exceeds today's standard industry practices. Content Analytics provides customers with significant flexibility to track assets using customer-defined "collections" that can be crafted to answer a wide variety of business and operational questions. It can be configured to work with customers' own content library structure and content publication workflow, giving access to data that would otherwise be difficult to capture.

"As increasing volumes of content gets distributed across the Internet, advanced reporting and analytics are playing a significant role in helping content owners manage their business," said David Vorhaus, senior analyst for the Yankee Group. "It's encouraging to see one of the top-tier CDN providers understand and address these evolving needs of its customers."

As online delivery becomes increasingly important to content publishers, there is an increased need for analytics to support key business decisions and policies. Both the depth and flexibility of tracking within Content Analytics is expected to provide a meaningful benefit to Level 3 CDN customers going forward.
