NBN Co expects to create a dozen new jobs in Adelaide when it launches two new high-speed connection hubs. The hubs will be located at Lonsdale and the industrial suburb of Green Fields in Adelaide's north, with the first to open by the end of the year.
The government enterprise responsible for the construction and rollout of the National Broadband Network plans to build 10 of the 121 "Points of Interconnect"
points at which retail internet service providers link to the high-speed network required nationally, with the rest to be housed in Telstra exchanges. A spokesman for NBN Co said it had acquired a site at O'Sullivans Beach Rd, Lonsdale, and would knock down the old facility to construct purpose-built premises to be operational "early next year".
