Netcetera and IBM plan Government cloud platform in Switzerland

In cooperation with IBM Switzerland, Swiss IT service provider Netcetera is launching a new cloud environment for public service organizations. The Swiss Government Cloud enables Swiss public authorities to respond flexibly to constantly rising demands and cost pressure and equip themselves for the future. The cloud services encompass infrastructure, platform and applications, ensuring that all data remains under the control and on the territory of the Swiss government. The Swiss Government Cloud will be built up in stages, with initial services available in 2013.

Cloud computing is an approach to providing IT services, such as applications, processing or data storage, in a dynamic and demand-driven manner over a network. Public service organizations can use the cloud approach to boost their efficiency, increase the flexibility of their IT, free up resources for their core activities, and accelerate the establishment of modern e-government services.
