NTT Com acquires 85% stake in Gyron

NTT Communications and Gyron Internet have announced that NTT Com has acquired 85% of Gyron, a leading provider of data center services in the United Kingdom. NTT Com is further subscribing for additional equity in Gyron to provide capital for planned expansion projects.

Gyron, an experienced provider of colocation and associated managed data centre services. Gyron provides a full range of colocation and connectivity services to enterprises, including large corporations such as software giants Adobe and Symantec, and the innovative music streaming service Spotify. Earlier this week Gyron annocued that it would be opening an additional data centre in Slough. When open for customer occupation in Q1 2013, the new Ajax facility offering up to 56,700 sq ft of data centre space, will complement the existing Gyron owned and operated Maylands and Centro facilities located in Hemel Hempstead, and bring Gyron's total announced power capacity to 19MW.

Gyron's data centers will strengthen the NTT Com group's cloud-based one-stop ICT solutions in the UK, Europe's ICT hub, and enable the NTT Com group to further accelerate its offering of increasingly diverse global cloud services.

Under the terms of the transaction, existing Managing Director, Robin Balen, and Operations Director, Ben Miller, retain their combined 15% ownership of Gyron, and will both continue in their current roles. Balen said, "We look forward to working with NTT Com and accelerating our expansion plans. Our existing and future customers will benefit from this investment and the continued provision of our high quality wholesale and retail colocation services."
