Oak Ridge Schools to build data centre

The Oak Ridge Board of Education recently approved spending more than US$828,000 to construct a new system wide "data centre" and purchase equipment for the space. The new data centre will be constructed inside the G Building on the campus at Oak Ridge High School, according to Doug Cofer, the city schools' director of technology.

The data centre, expected to be completed this year, will provide electronic information storage and backup for the city schools, Cofer said during a recent School Board meeting.
