Onyx Open New Disaster Recovery Centre In North East Of England
Technolgy company Onyx Group is to open up a dedicated facility in the North East of England, to help businesses recover after a disaster such as a flood or fire. The Workplace Recovery Centre will be established in premises on the Team Valley in Gateshead and cost £2m to set up. The centre will create 10 jobs. Work on the WRC is to start immediately and is expected to be complete by late July. It will provide managed workspace for up to 200 people. Onyx already has established data centres and workplace recovery facilities located in Newcastle and on Teesside. The new facility follows on from its acquisition of DataBanx, a multi-million pound data centre on Tyneside. The development is part funded by the Bank of Scotland, and builds on the Onyx Group's acquisition of a company called Business Continuity Centres in late 2006. Business Continuity is a mandatory requirement for many public sector organisations following the passing of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
