OVH.com starts work on North American data centre in Beauharnois
OVH.com is beginning work on its first data centre on North American soil in a portion of the former industrial area of Rio Tinto Alcan that belongs to the City of Beauharnois. This large industrial park will soon be home to the largest data centre in the history of OVH.com.
The future OVH.com data centre, with construction slated to begin in Beauharnois in early 2012, will be home to 360,000 servers, which represents unprecedented capacity for the hoster, whose entire computer population deployed in France stands at 100,000 machines today. This project has been in the works for several months and came together thanks to the active support of three Canadian partners—the City of Beauharnois, the Centre local de développement Beauharnois-Salaberry and Montréal International.
