Peak 10 expands in Charlotte

Charlotte data centre company Peak 10 will nearly double its footprint in the city with a new 62,000-sq ft facility in the University Research Park area, officials have announced. Peak 10 operates data centres for small- to mid-sized businesses that can’t afford down time or lost data. The privately-held company has flourishedsince relocating to Charlotte with 11employees in 2000, as smart phone use, payment processing and other data-heavy sectors boomed.

The facility to be built in the David Taylor Corporate Center will include its 23rd data centre. The site will supplement Peak 10’s headquarters in south Charlotte, giving the company closer proximity to its University-area clients. It will be Peak 10’s third local expansion in seven years. Peak 10 will initially occupy about a quarter of the building. Once it expands into the full facility as its customer base grows, it will have invested nearly US$50 million in Charlotte, CEO David Jones said.
