| KEMP TECHNOLOGIES UNVEILS APPLICATION DELIVERY OPTIMISATION FOR MANAGED HOSTING PROVIDERS Posted on: 05/06/2008 The advent of new and affordable application delivery controllers and server load balancing appliances, targeting the SMB market, presents new opportunities to managed hosting providers. A properly functioning site that is continuously up-and-running while providing optimum performance is a prerequisite to the success of any web and e-commerce application initiative. Managed hosting providers can now deliver increased performance and high availability for any web application and data centre to a much broader customer base, including smaller customers with as few as two servers. Traditionally, application delivery controllers came at a high cost, forcing the managed hosting providers to offer such capabilities only to high-end customers. Further, some providers offer shared load balancing services, utilising one appliance across multiple customers. This approach presents challenges, including performance limitations, poor scalability, and the inability to offer service level guarantees, as one customer’s application may affect other customers using the same appliance. KEMP Technologies, a key player in the market for application delivery optimisation for SMBs, has unveiled its application delivery controllers and server load balancer appliances for managed service providers. By deploying this kit, managed hosting providers are claimed to be able to improve their Internet value proposition to existing customers. What’s different? The appliances are claimed to change the traditional load balancing approach by integrating application delivery with the latest advancements in Layer-7 content switching and SSL acceleration technologies. KEMP claims to have created a server application delivery appliance for the MHP that delivers services to SMB customers to provide optimum application performance and 99.999% high availability. For larger MHPs, the LoadMaster potentially provides an opportunity for reduced acquisition costs, new revenue opportunities and quick ROI. KEMP customer REDPLAID is a managed hosting services provider of dedicated server hosting for SMBs. “Our customers require exceptional service and support to keep their businesses running flawlessly,” said Rusty Putlzer, VP Engineering for REDPLAID. “We’ve been able to meet such customer criteria based on our standardised offerings, which include KEMP’s line of high availability LoadMaster application delivery controllers and server load balancers. Our customers are satisfied and we’ve been pleased with the performance and price point, not to mention the support we get from KEMP.” |
