Subsea 7 extends IT outsourcing contract after merger
Subsea 7, a global seabed-to-surface engineering and construction company, has extended an IT outsourcing agreement following its merger with Acergy last year. While Acergy had managed its IT in-house, Subsea 7 had outsourced the core of its IT maintenance and support to Getronics since 2006. Under the new agreement, Getronics will now provide IT support services to all 8,000 users across the merged companies, up from 3,500 users, until 2016.
Getronics has already unified the company's business messaging applications onto a centrally-hosted Microsoft 2010 platform, and will be migrating all Subsea 7 users to Microsoft Windows 7. It will also implement collaborative tools, such as Microsoft Lync, to enable better communication between staff across multiple sites.
