Wired magazine has ranked Tieto's new data centre in Espoo, Finland, among the nine most energy efficient data centres in the world.. The acknowledgement came close on the heels of the international Green Enterprise IT Award granted by US Uptime Institute in May 2011. The new data centre has been operational for a year.

Each listed data centre was rated by its Power Utilization Effectiveness (PUE), the industry standard for measuring energy efficiency. The ideal value is 1.0; typically data centres range from 1.8 to 3.0. Tieto's data centre scores 1.2-1.3 PUE, raising it to the seventh place among the likes of Facebook, FedEx, Google and HP.
