Tokyo data centres face possible uptime problems

Despite the energy crisis caused by last month’s earthquake, Tokyo-based data centres have not faced many problems due to power shortages. However, this could change over the summer if the Japanese government implements rolling blackouts. Such blackouts may be performed by Japanese utility companies in order to preserve enough power for the entire nation.

Blackouts would force data centres to revert to generators, thus burning up much of the fuel needed to keep the centres running properly.
