UK cloud provider becomes carbon neutral

UK-based cloud computing provider, Skyscape, has been awarded CarbonNeutral Company certification, the status given to companies with a carbon footprint of net zero. To achieve Carbon Neutral Company status, Skyscape worked with The CarbonNeutral Company, a world-leading provider of carbon reductions solutions, to measure and reduce its carbon footprint to net zero. According to the company’s Head of Compliance & IA, Jon Goodwin, the process has been a challenging one:

“For example, our data centres are provided by Ark Continuity, who deliver facilities with an industry-leading PUE (power usage efficiency) of under 1.2. We are pleased to have made significant reductions in employee business travel related emissions: over 50% of all Skyscape business miles are undertaken with more than one employee in the vehicle, or are made by public transport, and our use of tele and video conferencing collaboration tools now accounts for more than 50% of diarised appointments.”
