UKFast has ended its sponsorship deal with Sale Sharks a year early, as founder, Lawrence Jones, looks to focus the company’s resources on the business. The Manchester agency has been involved with the club for more than 10 years initially as a technology partner. Then in 2009, it signed a 3 year deal, reported to be worth £1mb to become Sales’ main sponsor.
Jones plans to dedicate more resources to its new data centres - the first of which opens this summer. “We have spent millions in the past 2 years building our first and I believe Manchester’s greenest data centre,” he added. “It is large enough to house more than 12,000 servers. However in the last 2 years we have grown so much that actually it is clear we now need 5 times the space imminently. The latest plan is to build 100,000 sq ft. This requires every available penny and more.
