This year’s programme has as its theme using innovation to reduce cost and energy consumption, and increase efficiency in data centres. For one-day immerse yourself in an array of new solutions emerging to tackle the most critical issue in data centres today-cost.

Typical datacenters can support much less (10kw or even lower). By designing for less dense systems we could support: - lower power per system due to less restricted airflow - lower cost per system - higher operating temperatures - resulting in more free cooling (ie more outside air cooling) All of these deliver value to the end user. What are the tradeoffs and what is the most innovative design for low density? Rod Evans, Managing Director, SGI Building Green into Data Centre Design Design is confronted by the need to reflect continuing shifts in how buildings are configured. Data centres will be launched before the end of this year that are chiller less and cooling tower less with a significant reduction of air moving equipment.
