Asia Data Centre Giant Emerges: Connect Holdings Closes Acquisition Of Pacific Internet Connect Holdings, the parent company of Asia Netcom, is to acquire pan-Asian data, voice and video services provider, Pacific Internet. At this time, Connect has acquired shares representing approximately 88% of the issued shares of PacNet. Although the Offer has successfully closed, Connect intends to acquire additional PacNet shares through the open market or privately negotiated transactions. Pacific Internet owns one of the very few regional networks of data centres, with facilities in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia. Pacific Internet's China Data Centre Service covers 10 POPs including Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai and other cities in the Pearl River Delta, where many of the branch offices and factories of Hong Kong enterprises in China are located. The acquisition is one of the most significant to occur in Asia in recent years, and in combination with the additional strengths gained from take-over of the C2C subsea assets, will create a powerful regional strategic position for the group.
