International Power and Cooling for Data Centres Summit and Expo Launched

BroadGroup has announced the launch of the 2nd Power and Cooling for Data Centres international summit and exhibition that will take place 4-5 October 2007, at the Millennium Convention Centre, London.

The annual forum will once again provide a platform for robust dialogue between end user organisations, data centre operators and solutions providers focused on the two most critical challenges confronting all parties. This year will also feature the response being made by data centres to the growing mandate for green credentials, which most directly impact power and cooling issues.

In a content-led programme packed with insight and the very latest information, expertise drawn from both North America and Europe will contribute to discussion of the wide range of topics that inform the power and cooling debate. Power dominates the agenda for all data centres, and what measures are available now to reduce both consumption and carbon emissions as well as increase cooling capacity will be central to the challenge.

The event also features a major exhibition showcasing current and new technologies that offer power and cooling solutions and also green. Distinctively, the summit highlights user initiatives and innovation in accelerating green strategies, and how to use Power, Cooling and Greening to promote and differentiate businesses, and the opportunities for data centre providers to demonstrate and defend their eco credentials.

“Power and cooling remain challenging issues for data centre users and owners alike,” commented Nicola Hayes, vice president of BroadGroup. “This flagship forum is attracting attention from a very wide range of interests internationally, as data centres edge into the realm of public interest. As the green agenda impacts corporate social responsibility, user RFPs will place increasing emphasis on compliance with legislative stipulations, and we are sure this forum will contribute to, and influence policy making in energy efficiency, to achieve a common goal of reduced carbon emissions and successful power strategies.”

Other key topics to be addressed include organisations and their response to power and cooling, planning for regulation, an assessment of energy standards used in the US and Germany and their impact, investment and vendor initiatives, carbon trading, an examination of alternative power sources, a showcase of current and future cooling solutions, integrating Energy Renewables into Data Centre Power planning, integrating Power and Thermal Management and the challenges of Rack Design, Virtualisation and Clustering and achieving power and cooling efficiencies. A special workshop will provide a practical focus on designing and building data centres using green energy.

BroadGroup is delighted to announce that they will be partnering with CarbonClear, a leading London-based organisation that helps its customers and clients to achieve zero impact status, in order to offset the power and cooling event own carbon footprint.
