Power and Cooling Summit Attracts International Experts From a Wide Range of Organisations Confirmed speakers for the forthcoming Power and Cooling Summit taking place in London 25-26 October includes a wide range of organisations and expertise that promises to provide significant insight into the two most critical issues confronting data centres today. Confirmed Speakers will include sponsor organisations APC, Active Power, Corning, IXEurope, and The Colocation Exchange. In addition, IBM, HP, leading academic institutions, end user organisations, energy companies and technology experts are also scheduled to speak. Designed to provide insight into the current complexities of power and cooling in data centres, the summit will also assess technologies available to forward looking data centre operators, and consider both future solutions and those on the horizon, as well as what can be done in the short term to mitigate the consumption of power, and management of cooling. Scientists at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory are reported to have said that the amount of electricity consumed by an average data centre is six to 10 times the power needed to operate a typical office building at peak demand. In the US, Data Centres are spending around US$ 3.3 billion on power charges which is now the subject of a congressional enquiry. This timely event therefore brings a much needed focus to UK, EMEA and Asia data centres to gain insight into how this will play out in these markets.
