Savvis Launches Spate Of US-Based Data Centres Hosting and network provider Savvis has announced the opening of – and plans for - several Data Centres throughout the US which are due to be fully operational by the end of 2008. A new facility has been opened at Sterling, Virginia (close to Washington DC) with 30,000 square feet of raised floor space with up to 224 watts per square foot of conditioned power available. It is also currently opening new Data Centres in Atlanta, Silicon Valley and New York. The company has also announced plans for facilities to be built in Chicago, Boston and Dallas. The Dallas Data Centre will provide approximately 46,800 square feet of raised floor space and is expected to be open during the 2nd quarter of 2008. Into 2008, Savvis will have opened 7 new Data Centres in the US since the start of 2007 with new floor space totalling 260,000 square feet. In total the company will have 30 Data Centres worldwide with over 1.3 million square feet of space.
