  • Data centres Europe market revenue growth forecast to reach ?745m by 2007

    A new report from consultants BroadGroup, forecasts that revenues for Data Centres in the countries surveyed* will more than double 2003 levels and reach 745 million by 2007. The report, Data Centres Europe, records that most of the companies interviewed had turned cash positive more than a third during 2004, and is now entering a period of market maturity. Importantly, new and differentiated products and services are shifting the business model away from basic colocation and web hosting.

  • TeleCity and ManagedStorage International expand partnership in Europe

    With the aim of providing a range of data protection solutions across Europe, the two companies have expanded their current collaboration. Under the agreement MSI will extend backup and restore services to TeleCity facilities in Amsterdam, Paris and Frankfurt. The pricing structure is based on the amount of data protected, not the amount of data streamed. TeleCity has a total of 9 facilities across Europe. Last year the company posted a turnover of £25.8m (to December 2004).

  • Internap reports 2004 results

    For the fourth quarter, revenues totalled US$37.1 million, an increase of 5.7% compared to the third quarter 2004. Year-end 2004 revenues increased to US$144.5 million, an increase of 4.3% compared to 2003. Gross margin for the year is 46.7%. The Company's customer base grew to 1,929 customers, an increase of 41 net new customers in the quarter. Consolidated Revenue growth of 4.3%; IP services declined 0.8%, Colocation up 24% and Flow Control Platform growth up 292%.

  • New data centre opens at Heathrow

    4D Hosting has launch a new Data Centre at Heathrow. This facility will run alongside its existing Docklands data centre to provide another UK point-of-presence, targeting customers who require out of London hosting/colocation services. The facility itself is accredited to the ISO 9002 standard of quality management, has a VESDA double knock fire suppression system, 24*7 onsite manned security, and N 1 generator backed diverse power supplies.

  • Equinix expands into Asia Pacific

    Equinix Inc, a provider of network-neutral data centres and Internet exchange services, is expanding Equinix Command Center (ECC), a suite of managed services for the management and monitoring of enterprise-level information systems and network infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific market. With the new enhancements made to ECC, the suite now includes Smart Admin, Smart Watch and Smart Hands. The services are available for customers in the Asia-Pacific market, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.

  • Fibernet Telecom increases earnings

    Revenues for FiberNet Telecom Group, a provider of metropolitan data services in the US, increased to US$8.2 million for 4Q04, up 0.6% from US$8.1 million for 3Q04 and up 15.5% from US$7.1 million for the fourth quarter of 2003. Colocation services and access management services represented 20.2% and 7.4% of revenues, respectively.

  • Telehouse and Flag in US deal

    TELEHOUSE America has signed a cooperative Agreement with FLAG Telecom, a member company of the Reliance Group, India's largest business house. The Agreement enables direct connectivity for FLAG's global fibre routes to the TELEHOUSE family via LAIIX and NYIIX, connectivity to which enables FLAG to offer direct peering at these sites for their global clients and improve IP connectivity for their Transit customers.

  • NaviSite posts positive

    Navisite, the IT Outsourcing and Software On Demand enablement service provider continued to post positive EBITDA, for the 6th consecutive quarter, improving to US$2.6 million in 2Q2005, from US$1.3 million in the 1Q2005. Overall, the Company ended 2Q2005 with more than 750 customers in its managed services (Application, Hosting, Messaging, and CDN/ESD) and software on demand portfolio. The company opened an office in New Delhi in January 2005.

  • Hostway launches .PRO domain name

    Hostway, a global provider of hosting services now offers UK availability of the .Pro top level domain domain name extension targeting the medical, legal, accounting and engineering sectors. Only available to registered professionals who have been thoroughly vetted, .Pro will enable individuals and businesses in any of these professions to create a unique and secure address on the web.

  • Marconi launches hosted application

    Marconi Corporation plc has launched a hosted key system application, Impact UltraKey. The new application, developed in conjunction with its partner Mitel Networks, enables service providers to deliver a range of hosted voice and web services to small- and mid-sized enterprises (SME) over a common broadband connection. Gamma Telecom, the UK's fastest growing alternative service provider, is currently trialling the new application. Marconi's Impact UltraKey is a hosted application, which resides in a service provider network.
