  • Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Reveals IXEurope is one of Europe's Top 100 Fastest Growing Technology Companies

    IXEurope today announced that it ranked in the top 100 of the 2005 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in Europe, Middle East and Africa. At last night's glittering awards ceremony in London's Vinopolis, Deloitte announced IXEurope's position as a result of 842.3% revenue growth over five years, from 2000-2004. In addition to ranking on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA, IXEurope is 9th on the London and Southern Region Technology Fast 50.

  • IXEurope Connects Switzerland?s Internet Exchange Points

    IXEurope has announced significant upgrades to Switzerland's internet exchange. The new infrastructure incorporates Ethernet connectivity between the two premier internet exchange points (TiX and CiXP) and an upgrade between the two CiXP locations. CiXP is the internet exchange point for the Geneva area and is available from CERN (The world's largest particle physics laboratory) and IXEurope's Geneva IXDatacentre. IXEurope has upgraded the infrastructure between these two locations with CWDM to provide 10Gb services for the Geneva area.

  • VeriCenter Successfully Completes SAS 70 Type II Audit

    VeriCenter has successfully completed its SAS 70 Type II audit through the global accounting firm of Ernst & Young. The audit covers all of the company's nationwide Data Centers and each location received an unqualified audit opinion, the highest level attainable. The audit provides assurance that VeriCenter follows policies, procedures, and business processes recognized as best practices for providing a secure, stable data center environment.

  • Postini Selects Interxion to Host IMM Services in Switzerland

    Interxion's Zurich data centre has been selected by Postini, Inc. to host its Integrated Message Management (IMM) services in Switzerland. Interxion already hosts Postini's IMM platform in Amsterdam. Postini is expanding its integrated message management activities in Europe and offers a suite of corporate e-mail and instant messaging services.

  • A.T. Kearney Ranks Top Outsourcing Locations

    The international consulting company A.T. Kearney has announced The A.T. Kearney Global Services Location Index. The index analyses the top 40 services locations worldwide against 40 measurements in three major categories: cost, people skills and availability, and business environment. The Index assigns weightings reflecting the drivers of offshoring decisions based on A.T. Kearney research and its engagement experience. Because cost advantages have been the primary impetus behind offshoring, financial factors constitute 40 percent of the total index weight.

  • IBM Announces Investment in New Irish BCRS Facility

    IBM has announced an investment of 8.6m in a new Business Continuity and Recovery Services (BCRS) facility in Ireland, located at the company's campus in Mulhuddart, Co. Dublin. The new facility will be IBM's third such operation in the country. Industry analysts estimate that disaster recovery services are worth 15m per annum in Ireland, and growing.

  • EDS Hungary Doubles its Office Space

    Electronic Data Systems Hungary has completed a new office building and document archive at its base in Rabahidveg, thus doubling its office space. The expansion will serve EDS's regional service centre in Budapest, which was opened last year. The office area at Rabahidveg, near Hungary's border with Austria, is now 800 square metres with a 300-square-metre document archive. EDS Hungary provides its services mostly to multinationals such as General Electric and General Motors.

  • Hughes Escorts Communications Sets Up Third Internet Data Centre In India

    The company has set-up its third state-of-the-art internet data centre in India at Mumbai. The data centre will offer hosting, colocation, internet, mailing and spam protection and will be its third domestic Internet gateway in India. Hughes Escorts Communications Ltd., HECL is a joint venture between Hughes Network Systems (HNS) and Escorts Ltd. The HECL Data Centres in Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bangalore have been interconnected to each other over HECL's multi-telco backbone to provide back up sites for each other in case of emergency.

  • IBM Launches Global Service Delivery Centre in India

    IBM has recently launched a global service delivery centre (GSDC) in Bangalore, India, significantly expanding its existing operations to meet the growing market demand for IT outsourcing and management services. The centre will provide local and global clients with command centre services, including remote monitoring of servers, security operations and network operations, data centre services, including server hosting, server management and storage management, and IT help desk services.

  • Openwave Belfast Completes New Data Centre

    Software company Openwave is completing a new £750,000 data centre in Donegall Street, Belfast which is designed to act as a gateway for mobile phone operators around the world. The US based company operates in 13 countries worldwide. The company is reported to have received in the region of £860,000 funding from Invest NI over a three-year period. The new centre has been built to cope with increasing demand for mobile messaging and mobile internet services around the world.

  • Impsat Reports Growth in Data Centre Business

    Impsat Value Added Services revenues increased by 48.7% (compared to 3Q 2004) with growth led by hosting and telehouse services in their data centres. VAS for 9 months totalled US$17.14m. Overall, net revenues increased for the seventh consecutive quarter. For 3Q 2005, net revenues totalled US$65.4 million, an increase of 13.6% compared to 3Q 2004, and US$186.7 million for 9 months.

  • Colt Wins ?80m Contract From AOK

    COLT has won a contract valued at more than 80m over five years to design and manage the nationwide data communications infrastructure for German insurance company AOK. Colt will connect AOK's 1,600 branches across Germany with a data network, consolidating its current networks and suppliers. AOK will migrate its data network to Colt in a two-year phased programme with full implementation planned for the end of 2007. Colt will also host and manage AOK's internet and e-mail infrastructure, for its 25 million members, as well as its 60,000 employees.

  • Wipro Providing Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing Solution to Thuraya Stellite Communications

    Wipro is providing a Business Intelligence and Data warehousing solution to Thuraya Satellite Communications that will streamline information flow across applications for data traffic, segment and corporate performance. Thuraya will be able to consolidate information for performance analysis, research, decision support and forecasting.

  • HCL Technologies Signs Five-Year Agreement With Autodesk

    HCL Technologies Ltd. (HCL) has signed a five-year agreement with Autodesk to provide offshore application and data centre services. The deal is reported to be worth around US$50 million. Autodesk, of San Rafael, California, sells software and services for the manufacturing, building, infrastructure, wireless data services, and media and entertainment markets. HCL, an Indian outsourcing company in Noida, near Delhi, will provide Autodesk with application and data centre services for business applications from vendors such as SAP, Informatica, and Siebel Systems.

  • Trilantic Selects SAVVIS for virtualised IT Utility Services

    SAVVIS, a global IT utility services provider has been selected by Trilantic, a legal support services company that specialises in the provision of traditional and eDocument management solutions, to implement SAVVIS' virtualised IT utility services. Under the terms of the contract, SAVVIS will supply Trilantic with high-availability IT infrastructure services that include utility storage and computer architectures, as well as managed security services. SAVVIS' pay-as-you-go service offers Trilantic the ability to add server and storage capacity as their business grows.

  • T-Data Selects Interxion

    T-Data, a Ridderkerk, Netherlands, based backup and storage specialist has selected Interxion to supply its managed online backup and restore solution, Secure Data Service. IT-Data will resell Secure Data Service to its existing and new customers.

  • MCI Launches NetSec Security Risk Management Service

    MCI has launched its NetSec Security Risk Management Service, a new managed solution that helps companies improve their security by quantifying, prioritising and remediating security risks across an enterprise. MCI's latest cloud-to-core offering enables companies to enhance their ability to take proactive decisions and initiate immediate action against threats and vulnerabilities, when and where it most needed. The service will be available to U.S.-based companies, including multinationals beginning in January 2006.

  • Pacific Internet to Move Sydney Data Centre

    Internet service provider Pacific Internet will move its Sydney data centre to Global Switch's inner Sydney facility in a process starting February and expected to complete midway through 2006.

  • SingTel Launch e-Surveillance Service

    A new managed end-to-end digital video surveillance service has been launched by Singapore Telecommunications. As an extension to the traditional close-circuit TV system, it allows users to conduct continuous video recording and view real-time images of their surveillance recordings from anywhere within or outside of Singapore using broadband or IP connections. Customers can store and retrieve video images up to 30 days from the centrally-hosted video library at SingTel EXPAN, the company's managed hosting solution.

  • Vonage Canada Selects Peer 1 Network

    Colocation and Web hosting provider Peer 1 Network will provide the infrastructure for Vonage Canada's new voice over IP phone service. Peer 1 recently established a 25,000 sq ft data centre in Los Angeles, California to serve the city's online entertainment and gaming industries. Digital Realty Trust owns and manages the building in which the data centre is housed.

  • tel(x) Launch tel(x) Brilliant Platform

    tel(x), the provider of telecom "meet-me" network interconnection facilities, has launched the tel(x) Brilliant Platform(SM) (BP) at One Wilshire in Los Angeles. The BP provides enhanced interconnection capabilities through the conversion and grooming of multiple protocols. Now tel(x)'s European customers in NYC can take advantage of the same high-level services at One Wilshire in LA to interconnect to Asian and Pacific Rim carriers.

  • Global Voice Concludes Deals Totalling in Excess of ? 2.3m

    Global Voice Group Limited (GV) the Irish founded and Singapore listed owner and operator of fibre networks across Europe, has concluded deals totalling in excess of 2.3m, with an average contract length of 2.5 years. The deals represent significant revenue growth across both GV's Data Services and Infrastructure Provision business units. The deals announced are: A multi-year deal with Dresdner Bank AG subsidiary Visionapp GmbH. Visionapp will utilise GV's German data centres and network capabilities for the high-availability operations of its ASP and hosting offerings.

  • Videotron Renews Contract With RadialPoint

    Videotron has renewed a contract with Radialpoint, a provider of managed Internet services to broadband providers, as its Internet security services provider. Radialpoint security services are currently available to over 14 million broadband subscribers worldwide. Its customers in Europe include ntl, ONO and Telewest.

  • Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) to Outsource its Data Centre and IT Infrastructure Services to HP

    Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) is to outsource its Data Centre and IT infrastructure services to Hewlett-Packard Singapore (Sales) Pte Ltd (HP). The contract is being finalised and expected to be signed before the end of 2005. The nominal value of the contract is estimated at about S$95 million (US$ 56m) for five years. Over the contract period, SGX expects to save up to 20% of the projected cost of enhancing its data centre and IT infrastructure services.

  • Servecentric Launches Emailcentric

    Servecentric has launched Emailcentric, a fully managed, outsourced email service, aimed primarily at SMEs. Emailcentric facilitates business continuity and removes the financial and time-consuming strain of mail server downtime and lost emails. A key feature of the service is the strict spam and virus filter, which affords protection from unwanted email. Emailcentric utilises a double layer backup system to ensure that emails are stored in accordance with the latest Irish and EU legislation on the retention of electronic data. The service costs EUR10 per user, per month.

  • DediPower Upgrades Network Capacity with Affiniti

    DediPower has upgraded its network capacity with Affiniti, part of Kingston Communications. The direct fibre connection to Kingston's national network provides complete provider redundancy at DediPower's Cadogan House data centre. An initial 100 Megabit capacity has been provisioned providing an increase of 25% to current overall capacity, and can be upgraded to Gigabit speeds at short notice if required. In addition, DediPower customers requiring telecommunications services (such as ISDN and leased lines) now have the option of three providers: BT, Kingston and NTL.

  • Yahoo! Looking to Build New Data Centre?

    Reports are circulating that Yahoo! Inc. is looking to build a new data centre facility within the Colombia Basin. A long-term service commitment from the Grant County Public Utility District is apparently being sought for use of the utility's Zipp fiber optic network, a communication system the PUD developed to provide broadband access to the residents of Grant County. One report suggested that Yahoo would require about 15-20 megawatts of power from the PUD to operate and the new facility would staff about 40 employees.

  • Sale Closes of 96% of MicroLink AS

    The sale has closed of 96% of MicroLink AS, the Baltic IT services company. MicroLink Eesti will continue independently in the Elion group (Estonia); MicroLink operations in Latvia are sold to Lattelekom and MicroLink operations in Lithuania to Lietuvos Telekomas. Microlink had 6 data centre facilities in the Baltics: 2 in Riga, 2 in Tallinn and 2 in Vilnius. The deal allows Lattelekom to offer competitive services on an international level and develop various IT and telecommunication services for countries in the Baltic Sea region.

  • NaviSite Extends Remote Monitoring Capabilities

    The hosting and outsourcing provider has extended its monitoring capabilities to customers whose servers are located outside of a NaviSite data centre. NaviSite's Remote Monitoring Services provide a comprehensive view of IT systems through one interface: NaviView, NaviSite's customer management portal. Customers can assess the availability, responsiveness, and performance of all critical IT components, including critical applications, network devices, security devices, and servers/operating systems.

  • Verio Expands Data Protection and Manage Storage Service Offerings

    Verio, a subsidiary of NTT Communications and a provider of managed hosting solutions, has expanded its data protection and managed storage service offerings through a partnership with Arsenal Digital Solutions (Arsenal), to deliver a range of storage and data protection solutions to midsize and small businesses.

  • SAVVIS Win GBP 1.76m Outsourcing Contract

    SAVVIS has won a 3-year contract from Pfizer Health Solutions Inc for comprehensive managed hosting services worth a reported £1.76 million. Under terms of contract, Pfizer Health Solutions will deploy SAVVIS' fully resilient IT infrastructure solution in Europe. This includes managed network services, servers, storage, and disaster recovery services. As part of the solution, SAVVIS is also delivering managed security services that utilise virtualised firewall, load balancing and intrusion detection for hosted infrastructure, and in-network firewalling for the wide area network.

  • Peak 10 Adds Second Charlotte Data Centre

    Peak 10, the Southeast's (US) leading data center operator and managed services provider, has announced plans to build a second data center at its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. As a result of the expansion, Peak 10 will own and operate seven world-class data centers spread throughout the Southeast. The building of Peak 10's second Charlotte data center follows successful expansions in its Raleigh, N.C. and Louisville, Ky. markets earlier this year.

  • Level 3 Announces Private Debt Exchange Offer For $1.23 Billion Of Debt Securities

    Level 3 Communications, Inc.(NASDAQ: LVLT) announced today that it is commencing private offers to exchange any and all of its 9 1/8% Senior Notes due 2008, 11% Senior Notes due 2008 and 10 % Senior Discount Notes due 2008 (together the old notes) in a private placement for cash and a maximum of $1,230,272,000 aggregate principal amount of its new 11.50% Senior Notes due 2010 (the new notes). The exchange offers are being made only to qualified institutional buyers and institutional accredited investors inside the United States and to certain non-U.S.

    IX Europe has announced its 400th customer win by signing a business continuity solution for major advertising agency M&C Saatchi. The partnership supports ISDN Media's plans to help M&C Saatchi to deliver a fully outsourced data replication plan for its 51 global sites. Eventually, this will lead to a full load balanced business continuity solution.

    DataPipe has acquired data center space and expanded its sales and support teams into Hong Kong, China. this is in response to the growing demand from its clients for customized, cost-effective solutions that improve efficiency and value across the enterprise. By opening a facility in Hong Kong, DataPipe can now extend direct support to its customers and partners in the Pacific Rim. The Hong Kong expansion follows the 2002 establishment of DataPipe Europe based in London, UK. The company expects continued momentum internationally.

Until recently, there was only one technically comparable alternative network - C2000 that is exclusively used by emergency organisations such as police, fire fighters and ambulances.
