Equinix To Expand In Hong Kong And Singapore Carrier Neutral Data Centre provider Equinix has announced that it intends to expand its existing Hong Kong Data Centre and expand for the third time its Singapore Data Centre. The Equinix Hong Kong Data Centre is based in Kowloon and currently has 3,550 square metres of gross space. It is intended to add another 2,990 square metres of space which will be available for customer use from September 2008. The Hong Kong facility has access to 20 network providers and a range of content providers. Some 20 financial institutions already operate from the site – using either the Data Centre space or Equinix’s Business Continuity Trading Room (BCTR) service, which provides a specialised disaster recovery service for companies in the Hong Kong finance sector. In total Equinix will invest around USD17 million in
the Hong Kong expansion. In Singapore the company currently has gross
Data Centre space of 8,224 square metres and plans to add another 1,588
square metres of space. The Singapore Data Centre currently has over
100 networks housed at the facility. Equinix intends to invest around
USD14 million in the Singapore build out.
