Safehost S.A. To Expand Facilities In Switzerland Swiss-based Data Centre provider Safehost, who provides a carrier-neutral purpose built Data Centre at Plans-les-Quartes near Geneva, has informed BroadGroup that the company intends to add another 1,000 square metres of space to its existing facility during 2007 and then build a second 6,000 square metre Data Centre during 2009. Currently Safehost has a 10,000 square metre facility with 3,600 square metres fitted out for co-location services and a further 1,000 square metres used for Workplace Recovery services – with 300 positions used. Current utilization of the Data Centre is 65%. In common with Data Centre operators in Scandinavia, Safehost is positioning itself as a Data Centre operator who can also benefit from a “consistent and abundant source of power over the next 25 years.” Switzerland consistently generates more electric power than it consumes from non-fossil fuel sources.
