SynapSense(Tm) Closes Series B Funding With Sequoia Capital Investment SynapSense Corporation, a provider of wireless instrumentation solutions aimed at reducing energy costs and carbon footprint of data centres worldwide, has held a final close of its previously announced Series B financing round. Sequoia Capital has joined Emerald Technology Ventures and existing investors American River Ventures, Nth Power and DFJ Frontier in the company’s latest equity financing. With this secondary closing, the Series B financing increased to USD 11 million. As the “Entrepreneurs Behind the Entrepreneurs,” Sequoia Capital’s partners have worked with Apple Computer, Oracle, Cisco Systems, Yahoo!, Google, YouTube and many others. “Data centers are rapidly growing in number, size, density, performance, heat output and power requirements. Operators are increasingly sensitive to the escalating economic and environmental costs associated with the significant energy consumed in keeping these facilities properly cooled,” said Michael Goguen, Partner at Sequoia Capital. “SynapSense has developed a breakthrough solution for this problem and we are pleased to have the opportunity to join the SynapSense team.” In connection with the Series B financing, Scott MacDonald of Emerald Technology Ventures has joined the SynapSense Board of Directors.
