What is a meet-me room?
A meet-me room (MMR) is the dedicated space inside a data centre where carriers and tenants physically interconnect via cross-connects and patch panels. It is the nerve centre of any carrier-neutral facility. MMRs are either open (shared racks accessible to all carriers) or caged (individual carriers get locked enclosures). Access is tightly controlled with biometric security and 24/7 CCTV. Operators charge $500-2,000/month per rack unit in the MMR, plus cross-connect fees. The number of carriers present in a facility's MMR is one of the strongest indicators of its interconnection value and long-term tenant stickiness.
